Deloitte has signed a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Aggressor LLC, a leading business and IT consulting firm that focuses exclusively on providing deployment services for Workday solutions. Workday is a leader in software as a service (SaaS) enterprise solutions for global human resources (HR), payroll and financial management.
The acquisition elevates Deloitte as the leader in Workday HR and finance consulting services for both transformational and technology-only deployments. Moreover, the acquisition further strengthens Deloitte's market position as the leading HR technology and transformation consulting practice based on breadth and depth of capabilities, as rated by Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory.(1)
Global companies are using Workday's human capital management, talent management, payroll, financial management and spend management solution to help acquire, measure, develop, deploy and retain their global workforce, as well as help improve financial and operational efficiencies and gain greater insights into their organizations.
Deloitte's Human Capital Trends 2012 report concludes that transformative technologies, such as cloud, are driving many companies to focus on advancing their HR capabilities.
"With this acquisition, Deloitte broadens its HR transformation capabilities. As a result, we have strengthened our position to be the leading provider of Workday solutions, helping our clients keep pace with innovation to lead their organizations into the future," says Barbara Adachi, national managing director of Deloitte Consulting LLP's human capital consulting practice.
Based in Pleasanton, Calif., Aggressor complements Deloitte with top talent that can help Deloitte firmly grow and maintain its leadership position in the HR transformation market. Approximately 100 Aggressor employees are expected to join Deloitte's human capital consulting practice as part of its HR transformation service line.
"By uniting our demonstrated Workday delivery approach with Deloitte's unmatched human capital experience and global reach, our new practice will offer clients a broad array of Workday-enabled services ranging from technology-driven system deployments to global HR transformation," says David Hom co-founder of Aggressor. "We are thrilled that by bringing leading talent from both teams we can help our clients get even more from their Workday investment."
Workday co-founder and co-CEO Aneel Bhusri added, "We are excited about the combination of Deloitte and Aggressor, two leading Workday solution providers. We believe that our clients will benefit tremendously from the combined strength of Aggressor's Workday capability and Deloitte's leading HR transformation practice."
The transaction is expected to close in April.

The new firm will deliver the specialized talent management expertise required by the rapidly growing RIA industry.
Pepin Consulting is a talent services provider focused exclusively on the global wealth and investment management industry. Human Capital Consulting Firm Harkcon, Inc. Assists Coast Guard in Setting Up Health Services Corps
Harkcon, Inc. has been awarded a multi-year contract by the U.S. Coast Guard to provide program management and analysis support to its Health Safety & Work Life (HSWL) Directorate (CG-11). Harkcon’s analysts will provide data resulting from organizational and workforce analysis to assist the Coast Guard in determining the feasibility and efficacy of establishing its own Health Services Corps. Based on the initial analysis, should the Coast Guard decide to move forward with a Health Services Corps, Harkcon will then assist with any follow-on transition work to include the development of policies, procedures, and tools that support the effective transition to, and stand up of a Health Services Corps that will support all parts of the Coast Guard workforce. Harkcon’s COO, Keith Curran, remarked, "It's a pleasure to continue our relationship with the Coast Guard as it continues modernizing the Service's Human Resource System. The concept of the Coast Guard having it's own Health Services Corp, just like the other Armed Services, is something that's been discussed for a long time. With this analysis, we'll provide the Coast Guard with data to make a go/no-go decision."
This contract provides the ideal opportunity for Harkcon to employ its state of art data collection and analysis technology product, MainstayTM. Use of this tool greatly improves the accuracy and significantly reduces the cycle time of standard analyses such as Front End Analysis, Manpower Requirements Analysis and Job Task Analysis.
Contract Project Manager, Mark Faller, explained the approach to this work, "The Harkcon Team is conducting a comprehensive study for the Coast Guard's Health Safety and Work Life directorate that involves executive interviews with senior Coast Guard leaders and Coast Guard/PHS medical health care providers, an on-line survey to all Coast Guard PHS officers, and a series of SWOT focus groups to identify the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of creating a Professional Health Services Corps for the Coast Guard.” Faller went on to say, “While a final decision to move forward with this transformation will not be made for several months, this in-depth program review and analysis has already provided the Coast Guard with invaluable feedback from all components of the health care community."
Harkcon brings to this effort two outstanding teammates, The Lewin Group and Strategic Insights, Ltd. Both of these companies bring strong health and human services qualifications and past experience in support of the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) and the Department of Defense (DoD).
Harkcon, Inc., a veteran-owned, small business founded in 2005 and headquartered in McLean, VA, is a provider of performance analysis, training design and development, and program support services to Government and commercial customers at all levels.

S&P, Aon Consulting and Milliman Set to Launch Industry's First Barometer of U.S. Healthcare Costs
Standard & Poor's, the world's leading index provider, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Health Index Advisors ("HIA"), a joint venture between Aon Consulting and Milliman, to develop and publish a family of indices tracking the ongoing change in costs of medical services. The S&P Healthcare Cost Index family will track the change in the cost of healthcare services in the United States.
The first index series within the S&P Healthcare Cost Index family to launch will be the S&P Healthcare Economic Indices. Expected to launch during the fourth quarter of 2010, the Indices will seek to reflect the per capita change in total allowed claim costs incurred by patients (through their co-payments) and healthcare benefit programs for services rendered by hospitals and physicians.
"The forthcoming launch of the S&P Healthcare Economic Indices will expand upon our growing family of widely followed economic indicators while providing an important measure for insurance companies, employers and governments to understand and monitor changes in the primary cost components of the U.S. healthcare market," says David Blitzer, Managing Director and Chairman of the Index Committee at S&P Indices.
The S&P Healthcare Economic Indices will meet a longstanding market demand from employers, health plan providers and public policy makers for a current, independent measure of U.S. healthcare cost trends helping to improve their ability to forecast future cost changes and manage the financial liabilities and revenues associated with their healthcare programs. The methodology for the indices is derived in part from Milliman's proprietary Health Cost Index™ (HCI) model, which the firm has been publishing for its clients since 1987.
"These Indices will significantly improve the transparency of the health care market," says Andrew Appel, Chief Operating Officer, Aon Corporation. "We believe the Indices will be the basis for developing new risk management tools, allowing employers to better manage future healthcare cost increases."
"Healthcare constitutes almost 20% of the American economy, but the cost drivers are often misunderstood," says Milliman principal and HCI creator John Cookson. "The S&P Healthcare Economic Indices introduce unprecedented transparency and will help people better understand changes in the cost of medical care and insurance. A tool like this is especially important now with healthcare reform introducing all kinds of new cost dynamics to the system as a whole."
Standard & Poor's and HIA conducted the development and testing of the S&P Healthcare Economic Indices.
The complete methodology, fact sheet and supporting research for the S&P Healthcare Economic Indices will be available at www.standardandpoors.com/indices upon launch of the Indices.
Standard & Poor's does not sponsor, endorse, sell or promote any S&P index-based investment product. It is not possible to invest directly in an Index.

Mickelson Capital Consulting Offers Seniors A New Financial Option in Life Settlement
Mickelson Capital Consulting, a leading insurance brokerage based out of Oceanside, California, enables seniors to unlock substantial cash value from their life insurance policies through life settlement.
A relatively new but well proven transaction that is still widely unknown to many seniors, life settlement is essentially the sale of personal property to a buyer. The life settlement transaction sells the policy to an investor who becomes responsible for all ongoing premiums and eventually receives the policy benefit upon death of the insured. With proceeds from the settlement, seniors can then use the money for other investments or buy new policies, often with more coverage and lower premiums.
“We specialize in a certain type of client. Typically, they are older and very successful,” says David Mickelson of Mickelson Capital Consulting. “In one particular case, we managed to save a client $228,000 (or 33%) in annual premiums through a life settlement and new policy solution. After the settlement, the client retained a $10,000,000 life insurance policy and $907,000 in cash proceeds. Needless to say, he was very pleased.”
Life settlement offers seniors a new option. Historically, when policy holders wished to exit a life insurance policy while still alive, there were only two options available: 1) stop paying and lose the investment of premiums paid or 2) surrender the policy back to the issuer for a cash sum that in most cases was a loss. Now seniors can choose to sell their policies in a life settlement on the secondary life insurance market.
First popularized in 2002, this type of settlement is available to seniors typically over the age of 70 who are not terminally ill or under any particular duress to sell. By selling their existing policies to institutional investors for large cash payments, seniors can enhance their financial standing, eliminate unreasonable premiums, and opt for new policies with better terms.
About David Mickelson Insurance Services
As a premier life settlement broker and esteemed member of Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA), Mickelson Capital Consulting provides seniors and their advisors with a variety of professional financial services. By carefully evaluating each client's unique insurance situation, the firm's professional senior settlement brokers are successful in obtaining the most beneficial life settlements available. Based out of Oceanside, California, Mickelson Capital Consulting serves seniors nationwide, and offers a free life settlement and insurance evaluation.
