Melaver Sustainability Consulting Michael Frey Certified Home Energy Rater

Michael Frey, Sustainability Associate with Melaver Sustainability Consulting, has achieved two prestigious accreditations. Frey has become a Certified Home Energy Rater. A HERS Rater is a person trained and certified by an accredited Home Energy Rating Provider to inspect and evaluate a home's energy features, prepare a home energy rating and make recommendations for improvements, in new construction or renovations, that will save the homeowner energy and money. Raters must demonstrate an extensive knowledge of science principles, energy inspection and rating issues and related subjects, and they must perform their first ratings under a Rating Provider. Frey has also achieved the LEED for Homes provider representative accreditation. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification is the internationally-recognized standard for high performance, low water and energy use buildings awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED for Homes providers provide third party project certification and guide the project team through the certification process. All projects that wish to participate in the LEED for Homes program must do so through a LEED for Homes Provider. Frey had already achieved the status of LEED Accredited Professional.

Frey's new expertise will give clients more opportunities to save money and energy as they build or renovate environmentally responsible LEED projects. Melaver Sustainability Consulting is now working on multifamily and residential as well as commercial buildings, adding value to projects with guidance about environmentally responsible, energy efficient LEED standards.

With a wide variety of green building experience, Frey is currently involved with 12 LEED projects, incorporating many of the LEED rating systems such as LEED for Homes, LEED for New Construction, LEED for Commercial Interiors, LEED for Retail, LEED for Core and Shell and LEED for Neighborhood Development.

He has provided sustainable design and construction strategies as well as LEED administration and documentation throughout each of these projects and has guided the sustainability and LEED programs for new construction, tenant improvements and master plan developments. He is able to facilitate and coordinate group discussion with multi-stakeholder groups including architects, developers, general contractors and engineers.

Melaver's own extensive work in green building provides clients the benefit of leveraging their actual experience with cutting-edge projects. The company's hands-on development experience enables them to seamlessly coordinate any and all sustainable aspects of a project, freeing up valuable time for others on the design team to do what they do best. Melaver's Integrated team approach supports all phases of a project, whether it is increasing sustainability of preliminary design or carrying a project completely through the LEED certification process.
