Providing both pre-season and in-season planning, the Oracle Retail application supports retailers’ budgeting and open-to-buy or re-forecasting processes, and will help REDTAG achieve the ideal product mix, and match demand and supply more accurately to deliver on customer expectations.
“The merchandise planning platform forms an important part of our efforts to adopt industry-leading solutions, technologies, and best practices that support and extend our business vision and strategy,” said Ernest. J. “We are pleased to have successfully deployed an advanced planning platform for REDTAG to create informed estimates of future business opportunities, infuse inventory movement decisions with customer insight, and realize optimal returns on inventory investment,” said R. Chandrasekaran, President and Managing Director for Global Delivery at Cognizant. “We have combined our deep experience of developing business-aligned retail solutions for the world’s top retailers, and our extensive knowledge of Oracle solution frameworks to deliver a platform that will support REDTAG’s business strategies, enable competitive advantage, and help the company offer a more enjoyable shopping experience and an even stronger value proposition to its customers.”

Independent Research Firm Names Cognizant an Emerging Challenger
Cognizant (Nasdaq: CTSH), a leading provider of consulting, technology, and business process outsourcing services, has been recognized as an emerging challenger in the technology-enabled business services market, according to a July 2009 Forrester Research, Inc. report entitled, "SWOT: The Evolution of IT Service Providers to Business Technology Competitors." The report states, "Cognizant's clear focus on vertical market expertise is helping it drive deeper into business processes in an attempt to move up the value chain."
According to the report, "For years, [leading companies in this market] have based their value propositions on the ability to provide comprehensive business solutions. While many IT service providers offer complete technology services, these [leading] firms distinguish themselves through their 'end-to-end' technology services and their proactive business-focused marketing approach. At the same time, these market leaders are facing new competition from companies like Cognizant that recognize that perhaps the best opportunity to create differentiation and value amid a new wave of global competition is through increased business alignment."
"Cognizant has emerged a global leader in business and IT services," said Francisco D'Souza, President and CEO, Cognizant. "We are gratified that Forrester cites our vertical industry depth and strong client relationships as our key competitive differentiators. Our continued investment in our Cognizant Business Consulting (CBC) practice, client relationships, and domain expertise, along with our strategy of focusing on providing industry-aligned business process outsourcing, are helping clients find opportunities to address both the cyclical challenges of the economic downturn and the structural challenges that their industries are facing."
"Through our business consulting practice, we are increasingly becoming trusted advisors to CXOs," said Mark Livingston, Senior Vice President, Cognizant Business Consulting. "We deliver a broad range of strategic consulting services aimed at reducing cost, improving operational efficiency, and driving globalization, innovation and business agility. By making our offerings deeper and more strategic to our clients' businesses, we are enabling true business transformation."
The Forrester report focuses on four leading providers of technology-enabled business services - including process consulting, transformation services, system integration, business process management, and business process outsourcing (BPO) - that are making technology more strategic for businesses and are receiving more attention from senior business executives. It explores factors related to each company's strategy, solutions, and go-to market approach.

Cognizant (Nasdaq: CTSH), a leading provider of consulting, technology, and business process outsourcing services, today announced a global product research and development alliance with Invensys Operations Management, a global provider of technology systems, software solutions and consulting services to the process and manufacturing industries.
As a part of this relationship, Cognizant has signed an initial five-year, multi-million dollar contract with Invensys Operations Management to augment and maintain Invensys' suite of products, and bring in greater operational efficiency, scalability, consistency and cost-effectiveness to its global product R&D processes. To realize this goal, offers to join Cognizant will be made to over 400 Invensys Operations Management professionals from its existing R&D center in Hyderabad.
This relationship will strengthen Cognizant's strong presence in the manufacturing industry and strengthen its ability to provide end-to-end services to its customers. It will enable Cognizant to further expand its customer base in discrete manufacturing, process manufacturing, energy and utilities, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods segments with services and offerings in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM), and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM). These offerings will be supported through global engineering services in the areas of product design and development, industrial automation and control, and asset reliability engineering, leveraging Cognizant's proven global delivery model and presence around the world to provide localized and industry-specific skills.
"This relationship is significant," said Sudipta Bhattacharya, Chief Executive Officer and President, Invensys Operations Management. "The manufacturing technology market is at an inflection point as companies move to seamlessly stitch plant floor applications to enterprise applications to access and act on real-time manufacturing information. There is significant innovation happening at this intersection of the real-time manufacturing execution world and the transaction based enterprise world. In Cognizant we have found a partner who shares our vision around where the market is headed for the next generation of engineering services and manufacturing operations solutions, and brings synergistic product development and software engineering capabilities and leading edge tools like Cognizant 2.0 to realize this vision. We expect to be able to learn from the strengths each of us brings to the table."
"We are pleased to partner with Invensys Operations Management and welcome on board their highly talented and experienced professionals in Hyderabad," said Francisco D'Souza, President and CEO, Cognizant. This multi-dimensional relationship, along with the domain expertise that Invensys Operations Management provides, will help both companies solidify our leadership positions in the manufacturing space, expand our range of capabilities in engineering services, and jointly drive further growth in many of the verticals where we have, and will continue to demonstrate, thought leadership.
