One of the Nation's Leading Consultants on Nonqualified Plans Joins CAPTRUST Financial Advisors

Mike Curran, retired founder and CEO of Executive Benefit Services, Inc., has joined CAPTRUST Financial Advisors as Vice President of Nonqualified Deferred Compensation services and will lead the firm's strategic decision to broaden these services as employers across the country look for ways to help their employees save more for retirement, including options over and above current 401(k) regulatory limits.

Curran joins CAPTRUST after a four-year sabbatical spent working on numerous community projects, including the development of the Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC) through the support of The Curran Family Foundation, a charitable organization created by Curran in 2003. Curran founded Executive Benefit Services, Inc. in 1992, which he quickly grew into a national leader on nonqualified plans. In 2002, Curran sold the firm to Principal Financial Group and remained on as president and CEO until his retirement in 2005.

"Mike brings 25 years of nonqualified plan consulting and technical expertise to CAPTRUST," said J. Fielding Miller, CAPTRUST co-founder and CEO. "As we execute on our vision to advise mid-market companies and their executives on their complete retirement plan needs, we are going to continue to look for talent with specific expertise to enhance what we do. Mike brings a level of specialization in nonqualified plan consulting that is virtually unmatched in our industry."

"My decision to join CAPTRUST is based on the fact that my approach is uniquely aligned with numerous fundamental factors at the firm including their culture, core values, and a shared philosophy for serving the needs of clients," commented Curran. "The combined resources will allow CAPTRUST to continue to meet the evolving nonqualified plan needs of its client base as part of its holistic service offering."

"We're honored to have Mike join us," Miller added. "He's highly revered in this community for his philanthropic support of children and young adults through a charitable foundation he initiated. I look forward to witnessing what he will accomplish with our clients."
