Potomac Fusion Expands Management Team

Potomac Fusion, Inc., an emerging leader in the development of advanced intelligence, data fusion and visualization technologies, announced today the expansion of its executive team with two key additions. Former US Army advisor Ed Marquardt joins the company as vice president, Strategic Technology; former CTO and award winning developer John Risch will serve as vice president, Research & Development.

“Ed and John bring a unique combination of experience to PFI,” said Daniel Haug, president. “As we look to provide our clients with even more data fusion services, the addition of Ed and John to the team will accelerate that process.”

Marquardt brings over thirty years of design, acquisition, operation, and support of complex, computer-based systems to his new role. He has held positions in both the public and private sector, including Deputy Senior Science Advisor to the United States Army and Group Vice President of a major management consulting firm. As a private consultant specializing in web services and database design with emphasis on emerging needs of the intelligence community (IC), Marquardt coordinated a major overseas IC developmental effort for the National Security Agency (NSA).

Marquardt functioned as the government lead for technical activities involving the Information Dominance Center (IDC), a worldwide organization with responsibilities including counter terrorism, counter intelligence, counter narcotics and computer network operations.

“The opportunity to bring my vast experience in the information technology field and apply it to the data fusion services PFI provides – combined with the opportunity to help guide the strategic decisions of the company – is exciting to me,” said Marquardt. “PFI feels like home.”

Risch is a former Chief Scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory where he led research teams conducting basic and applied computer science research for a variety of DOE, DOD, and other U.S. Government and commercial clients. As Principle Investigator for the PNNL Starlight Program, John directed the development of PNNL’s pioneering Starlight Visual Information System software, establishing it as one of the U.S. Intelligence Community’s premier information analysis tools. Starlight has won numerous awards, including an R&D Magazine R&D 100 Award and a 2006 Federal Laboratory Consortium Award.

More recently, Risch served as the CTO of Future Point Systems, Inc., a Silicon Valley software startup established to commercialize PNNL’s Starlight software.

“Developing software and services that help analysts get the critical data they need out of their information technology is my sweet-spot,” said Risch. “I look forward to hitting another homerun with PFI.”
