Hitachi Consulting Names Philip Parr President and CEO

Hitachi Consulting, the business and IT consulting company of Hitachi Ltd., has appointed Philip R. Parr as President and Chief Executive Officer of the consulting company founded in 2000, which has been led for its last six years by D. Michael Travis.

The change, effective April 1, comes after the company has had three years of 25 percent average revenue growth. The firm, based in Dallas, Texas, serves clients across multiple industries through offices in 16 major U.S. cities and five in Europe. Hitachi’s global consulting network also includes a sister company branded as Hitachi Consulting-Japan, which serves clients based in Asia and in Japan.

Parr, the company’s Chief Operating Officer for U.S. operations for the last three years, previously held a number of key Hitachi Consulting management roles, including Market Leader for the Rocky Mountain area and Regional Managing Vice President for the Western United States. In a message to all company employees outgoing President and CEO Michael Travis said, “Phil has consistently delivered profitable results and double digit revenue growth for our U.S. business. I believe Phil is uniquely qualified to lead Hitachi Consulting to the next level and I am excited for both him and the company.”

“In the span of my career managing consulting operations and advising clients on their own critical decisions I don’t recall a more challenging time to lead an enterprise as diverse and powerful as a global consultancy, particularly one engaged with as many of the best companies in the world as we are today. With the dedication and support of our existing leadership team and our talented personnel, Hitachi Consulting has a bright future among the major global consultancies. I look forward to the challenges of both today and the future and will dedicate myself to the success of our enterprise,” Parr said shortly before his appointment was made official.

Parr’s career in the professional services industry spans more than 25 years, working primarily with consumer and industrial products companies. He held a number of leadership positions with Andersen Consulting before joining Hitachi Consulting in 2002. Parr also spent four years as CIO of a major U.S. food and beverage company. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and information science from the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he currently resides with his family.

Travis has been named to the new position of Chief Operating Officer, and to the Board of Directors, of Hitachi Information & Telecommunication Systems Global Holding Corporation. In this role Travis will work across all Hitachi technology companies on initiatives to expand Hitachi’s IT business outside of Asia and to increase synergies.

Parr and Travis have both been honored as being among Consulting Magazine’s Top 25 Consultants.
