Liaison Technologies Extends Business Process Consulting and Managed Services Leadership with Acquisition of First Thought Consulting

Liaison Technologies, a global leader of business-to-business integration and data management services, announced today that it has acquired First Thought Consulting, Ltd. (1st Thought), a privately-held leader in business process management and TIBCO integration services. The acquisition of 1st Thought, based in the UK, expands the depth and breadth of Liaison’s professional and managed services capability in the European marketplace, brings a number of marquee clients to an already well established customer base, and strengthens the company’s core capabilities of Business Process Management (BPM), Service Orientated Architecture (SOA), as well as best-in-class expertise in the webMethods and TIBCO technology stack. 1st Thought will be renamed Liaison Technologies Ltd.

Gartner estimates that B2B project outsourcing in Europe is driving double-digit CAGR in this market segment and that by 2011, midsize to large companies will at least double the number of multienterprise integration and interoperability projects and spend up to 50 percent more on B2B outsourced projects. To capitalize on the growth, Liaison continues to focus and innovate on its B2B integration and data management services, and with the acquisition, now becomes a member of TeamTIBCO, the top tier of TIBCO’s partner program, further establishes a premiere customer base, and expands and strengthens its world-class expertise in webMethods, Master Data Management (MDM) and managed service practices.

“We believe that this acquisition will accelerate the achievement of Liaison’s strategic corporate objectives, including the expansion of our global consulting and managed services capabilities, and form an exceptional and unique business value proposition for our customers,” said Juhani Sormanen, EVP of Corporate Development for Liaison Technologies. “This announcement not only makes strong business sense, but also delivers a decisive message that the company recognizes B2B integration outsourcing as a powerful - and global - inflection point in the industry, and is looking to build operational capabilities to strengthen our position as one of the market leaders.”

“This acquisition is tremendously exciting news for our customers and staff. By joining Liaison we gain a depth of service offering, global reach and financial stability that would have taken many years for us to develop organically,” said Nigel Winship, Managing Director, 1st Thought. “The combination of our deep business integration knowledge and Liaison’s industry leading Software as Service (SaaS) platforms, creates significant value. The new entity will assist new and existing customers to better link people, processes, systems and data both within and outside their organisation - increasing operational flexibility and driving down costs.”
