Ernst & Young LLP Wins SCORE Award for Corporate Small Business Advocate of the Year

SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business" honors Ernst & Young LLP for its long-standing and deep commitment to supporting and celebrating start-up companies as they create new opportunities in their communities. James Turley, chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young LLP, will accept the SCORE Award for Corporate Small Business Advocate of the Year at the inaugural SCORE Awards and black-tie gala, which will be held at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, September 17.

Ernst & Young LLP focuses its efforts on three key areas that are aligned with its business strategy and crucial to improving and expanding market economies.

Education -- developing skills and broadening access to make sure the next generation of business owners has the skills it needs to make a positive impact

Environmental sustainability -- minimizing the impact on the environment

Ernst &Young LLP has supported SCORE during the past three years by providing financial support to the programs and resources used by SCORE volunteers to mentor clients every day. In addition, John Carden, former vice chair at Ernst & Young LLP, serves on the SCORE Board of Directors, lending his expertise and experience to helping grow the organization.

"For years, Ernst & Young has strived to help businesses achieve their potential through the services we provide and we are honored to accept the SCORE award," noted James S. Turley, chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young LLP. "As the global economy struggles to regain momentum, it will be the entrepreneurial spirit that leads the way to recovery. For more than two decades, through our Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year(R) program, we've been shining a spotlight on business owners who have become role models for innovation and inspiration. We will continue to support entrepreneurs around the world because we recognize their vital contribution to the economy and society overall."

SCORE CEO Ken Yancey says, "Ernst & Young LLP has a tremendous impact through its support of the success of small businesses across America, especially during a time of economic adversity. SCORE salutes Ernst & Young for their entrepreneurial advocacy and ongoing support of SCORE." Yancey adds, "Entrepreneurs can use a mentor to help them through tough times.
