IT Consultancy Adds Top Electronic Discovery Expert

Precision Discovery, a provider of IT risk and litigation consulting solutions, today announced that Thomas W. Avery has joined the firm as a vice president in the electronic discovery group. With a strong background in managing large-scale electronic discovery engagements involving multinational corporations as well as matters involving multiple law firms, Avery will oversee all aspects of the electronic discovery practice at Precision Discovery.

Avery brings more than 20 years of combined experience in electronic discovery, computer forensics, training and law enforcement. During his career, he has been heavily involved in all phases of electronic discovery, including managing large teams of electronic discovery staff; and planning, budgeting and advising on high-volume electronic discovery collections. Avery has served as an expert witness in state and local courts.

Prior to joining Precision Discovery, Avery was the head of operations for the electronic discovery practice at Aon Consulting and was a director in the financial advisory services' high-tech investigations and IT consulting practice at Kroll. His impressive career also includes serving as an instructor for the Advanced Training Center of the California Department of Justice, where he provided training on Internet and email investigations. Avery began his career as an investigator with the Orange County Sheriff's Department, where he served as a member of the department's computer crimes unit.

Avery is the co-author of Criminal Investigations Technology Crimes and Forensics, which is used an educational resource in select colleges throughout the U.S. In addition, he has published numerous articles on electronic discovery and high-tech investigations for industry and trade publications.
