Johnston McLamb announced today that David Acton has joined the management team as chief financial officer. Johnston McLamb is an Inc. 5000 management and technology consulting firm specializing in geospatial solutions, data visualization, business intelligence and large scale data management.
Acton brings extensive financial and management experience to Johnston McLamb, including expertise in financial and accounting system controls, compliances and standards for government contracting. He was formerly CFO of Edge Technologies, Inc., of Fairfax, VA, where he directed daily operations of treasury, accounting, budget, tax and audit activities for the IT consulting and software development firm. Prior to that, he served as vice president and controller of A-TEK, Inc., of Leesburg, VA, an IT professional services firm that grew from $25 million in revenue to over $40 million during his two-year tenure.
A seasoned CFO for government contractors, Acton has over eighteen years of progressive experience in Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP), including a detailed knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). He has also implemented internal control processes proven effective in audits performed by external accounting firms and the Defense Contract Audit Agency. He will report to Wendy Henry, vice president and chief operating officer.
The addition of Acton is a strategic step for the company that increased revenue 56 percent to $30.1 million between 2007 and 2008.
“David has a proven track record in helping growing federal contractors achieve success,” said Henry. “He will play an essential role in our strategic goal of increasing the federal sector business, particularly with his broad knowledge of pricing, contract proposals, negotiating and winning contracts, post-award performance, compliance issues and managing financial profitability,” she said.
“In addition to the company’s dramatic growth, I have been impressed with the sense of teamwork and the vibrant and energetic culture at Johnston McLamb,” said Acton. “It is clear that everyone is working together to propel the company to the next level. I’m excited to apply my background to help Johnston McLamb continue to grow efficiently and profitably in the government and commercial sectors. A firm and current knowledge of the complexities of this landscape is critical,” said Acton.
Charles (Chip) Armstrong recently transitioned from CFO to the new position of vice president of financial audit and control. Armstrong is responsible for oversight and audit of all financial activities including ensuring timely and accurate reporting to executive management and meeting or exceeding industry and government standards with accounting practices.
