Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. said it has acquired Fox Lawson & Associates, a consulting firm in St. Paul, Minn. that specializes in compensation and human resources issues.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The newly acquired company will fall under the purview of William Ziebell, Gallagher's North Central Regional executive vice president for employee benefit consulting and brokerage operations.
The acquired firm's two principals, James Fox and Bruce Lawson, led Ernst & Young's Minneapolis-based compensation and human resources consulting practice for 13 years before founding Fox Lawson & Associates in 1995, according to the firm's Web site.
Fox, Lawson and five other employees will continue working at the St. Paul office, as well as a smaller office in the Phoenix area.
"Over the last 14 years, Fox Lawson & Associates has been extremely successful in designing and implementing key compensation and human resource strategies that have helped their clients motivate and retain quality employees and increase effectiveness and profitability," said J. Patrick Gallagher Jr., chairman, president and chief executive of the brokerage.
Gallagher, based in Itasca, Ill., is the fourth-largest broker in the world based on 2008 brokerage revenue, according to the Best's Review ranking of global brokers.
