The Institute for Health Technology Transformation announced today the speakers for their Electronic Health Records panel, which will be providing an overview of the current understanding of the EHR opportunities presented by the ARRA.
The panel will be moderated by Judy Hanover, Research Manager, IDC Health Insights, and speaking will be George Abatjoglou, CEO, eWebHealth Inc; Todd Rothenhaus, MD, SVP & Chief Information Officer, Caritas Christi Health Care; Ellen Van Buskirk, Principal, Cognizant Business Consulting; and Alan Portela, President, CliniComp, Intl.
Their presentation entitled, "Meaningful Use and Meaningful Results from Electronic Health Records," will discuss the meaningful use and the concerns surrounding EHR selection, implementation, and adoption with panelists from the vendor and provider community. "It is critical that U.S. providers making EHR investments and implementations under ARRA deadlines leverage the learnings and best practices among existing early adopters in the industry," said Judy Hanover. "U.S. providers clearly cannot afford a second chance to acquire and leverage EHR capabilities."
Judy Hanover, who will serve as moderator, has a background in healthcare informatics, and experience working with managed care, provider and clinical applications. The technologies she covers include Electronic Health Records, Electronic Medical Records, Hospital Information Systems, Practice Management Systems, Revenue Cycle Management Systems, Disease and Case Management, and more.
George Abatjoglou is responsible for the overall leadership of eWebHealth, overseeing customer sales and service activities, strategic product planning and marketing, product development, support, and implementation services as well as finance and administration.
Dr. Todd Rothenhaus is currently the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Caritas Christi Health Care, the second largest health system in Massachusetts. Dr. Rothenhaus oversees a staff of nearly 200 dedicated IT professionals charged with executing Caritas' three-year, $70 million, information technology strategic plan to automate and advance the care patients treated in Caritas' communities.
Ellen Van Buskirk has over thirty plus years of experience in the healthcare industry, with over twenty years in strategy, business process and management consulting across the healthcare ecosystem. This includes significant experience with medical management, claims management, provider/network management, and member services.
Alan Portela, has more than twenty years of leadership experience in IT as a strategic advisor for both prestigious medical centers and top-tier healthcare companies. As president, he is responsible for defining and managing the company's operating plan and ensuring the effective and timely allocation of all company resources to support client needs and achieve overall business goals.
