AppAssure, a leading provider of application-aware backup and disaster recovery software purpose-built for Windows applications, today announced that its customer base has grown 420% over the past 12 month period since receiving an A round of funding from Bain Capital.

"Nearly 500 customers have selected AppAssure's Replay solutions for protecting their mission-critical Windows applications in its first year of selling," said Ben Nye, Managing Director of Bain Capital. "This incredible success is a testament to the uniqueness and value its solutions bring to the marketplace."

AppAssure's Replay AppImage application protection software is a game-changer for small to medium sized businesses and government entities seeking to better protect their Windows applications, as well as critical data. Among AppAssure's customers are American Data Technology, Apptix, BlackBoard, Inc., Imagine Schools, ITS Group Consulting, Kalmbach Publishing, Lloyd Gosselink, Raycom, The Villages, Ubicom, and the University of Maryland, each of which has a detailed case study for review on the Success Stories section of the AppAssure website.

Customers across 18 countries look to AppAssure and its 40 partners to gain valuable tools that deliver lightning-fast recovery of mission critical applications such as Exchange, SQL and SharePoint. AppAssure ensures reliable application protection that is corruption-free for a broad base of users including law firms, educational organizations and broadcasting companies who benefit from the easy-to-use software.

AppAssure will be demonstrating Replay AppImage at Microsoft Tech Ed North America 2009 in Los Angeles, May 11 through 15, in booth #726. AppAssure board member and Microsoft Senior Vice President Bill Veghte, will be kicking off Tech Ed with the keynote speech and demonstrations.

"During these tough economic times, information technology innovation is absolutely critical to help businesses take costs out and increase their agility. Through our innovations and those of our partners, Microsoft is committed to doing just that," said Veghte. "What you will see at Tech Ed, from Windows 7 to Windows Server 2008 R2 to Exchange 14, underscores our commitment and the opportunity on the Microsoft side. On the partner side, AppAssure is a great example of an innovative company building from the Microsoft platform to deliver great value for businesses."

In addition to the explosion in customer growth during a difficult 12-month period, other ground-breaking efforts over the past year include:

-- Release of Replay AppImage 3.0 which offers continuous application
imaging for Exchange, SQL, SharePoint and other Windows applications with
killer recovery time and recovery point objectives.
-- Release of new Replay AppImage SQL Pack which delivers backup speeds
that are four times faster than native SQL backups with compression. This
SQL Pack also optimizes storage resources by reducing the overall related
footprint by more than 90%.
-- The introduction of MailRetriever which is tightly integrated with
Microsoft's System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) for message-level
recovery in Exchange.
-- The receipt of Microsoft Gold Certification demonstrating AppAssure's
commitment to Microsoft technology.

AppAssure has also appointed executives to key roles within the company during this period of unprecedented growth. Jack Codde was named AppAssure's Vice President of Strategic Alliances, and Angela Lauria has joined as Chief Marketing Officer. Codde is responsible for partner sales including the Microsoft relationship and the SaaS and cloud computing business which accounts for about 25% of AppAssure's client base. He previously held executive positions at Veritas, Andataco, Sybase and KnowledgeWare. Lauria, who came to AppAssure after the successful exit of video-platform start-up Voxant, has helped to build marketing programs to communicate Replay AppImage's value to organizations that rely on Windows applications including Microsoft Exchange and SQL.

Throughout 2009, AppAssure will continue to add to its Replay AppImage product line with increasing enhancements for virtualized infrastructures and future support for SharePoint application protection including corruption detection and object-level restore functionality.
