Hitachi Consulting UK Works with Experian Footfall

Hitachi Consulting UK today announced the completion of the new design for Experian FootFall’s next generation of products and services. The architectural design and requirements, based on Microsoft SQL Server and SharePoint 2010, are designed to provide an innovative new platform to support Experian FootFall’s global business operations, further increase customer service levels and help maintain the company’s market leading position of delivering in-depth understanding into the business value of data.

Experian FootFall, a leading provider of information and services related to the number of people visiting retailers, shopping centres and transport locations, helps companies better understand marketing opportunities by measuring customer numbers and providing related metrics such as conversion rates.

“We wanted to update the design of our existing products to ensure we remain ahead of customer requirements, help our clients further leverage the data we’re gathering for them and empower them to identify and exploit market opportunities even faster,” said Mike Roberts, Director of Product Management and Development for Experian FootFall.

“We appointed Hitachi Consulting UK to help us with the design of our new products because they have an in-depth knowledge of both the technology and the retail market. They also placed our business requirements in context exceptionally well, which was instrumental in assisting with the new architectural design.”

Prior to sign off, the architectural design of the new product set was subjected to a series of tests for performance, scalability and resilience at the Microsoft UK labs over a 3 week period. Hitachi Consulting tested the product design on over 13 billion rows of data and, amongst other tests, automated the creation and email distribution of more than 30,000 individual reports within the rapid timescales expected of Experian FootFall’s clients.
