Booz Allen Named as One of 'Top 50 Companies for Diversity'

Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) has been named by DiversityInc as one of the "Top 50 Companies for Diversity" for 2011, honoring the company's commitment to hiring and developing a diverse staff, creating an inclusive work environment and leveraging the differences of staff to further enhance client service.

The award, representing Booz Allen's first appearance on the list, was presented this month by DiversityInc, the diversity management organization and publisher of DiversityInc magazine. DiversityInc was founded in 1998 and is a metrics-based source of information on diversity management data, trends and best practices.

"We're a firm known for providing the highest quality consulting expertise to the U.S. government, and that means we must foster the best and most innovative ideas. Every day we see that the diversity of our workforce is essential to generate that level of expertise," said Betty Thompson, Senior Vice President for People Services. "Success is about hiring a diverse workforce, but also comes from creating an energized working environment where people of all backgrounds can flourish, and we're proud that DiversityInc has acknowledged our commitment to diversity and inclusion."

"In its first time participating, Booz Allen Hamilton makes the list with strong supplier diversity as well as good diversity-management initiatives, including robust employee-resource groups," said DiversityInc CEO Luke Visconti.

Booz Allen has also been named to Fortune magazine's 2011 "Best Companies to Work For," Working Mothers magazine's "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers," GI Jobs magazine's "Top Military Friendly Employer" list (#1), Consulting magazine's "Best Consulting Firm to Work For" list, and has earned a 100% rating on the Human Rights Campaign's "Corporate Equality Index."

The firm's Office of Diversity and Inclusion sponsors 14 employee network forums, including the African American Forum, Armed Services Forum, diverseABILITY Forum, Women's Forum, Latin American Forum, the GLOBE Forum for LGBT employees, and others. Each is sponsored by a senior leader, and the leadership is also involved in a variety of other programs and activities to reinforce the principles and importance of diversity in the workplace.
