Exervio Management Consulting Helps Harris YMCA Create a ‘Recipe For Success’

Exervio Management Consulting once again partnered with the Harris YMCA and served as lead facilitators in the organization’s annual Board of Manager’s planning retreat held in Charlotte Oct. 6-7. This marks the fourth consecutive year of Exervio’s involvement in the two-day strategic planning retreat.

“Every year, Exervio brings to our Board of Managers retreat strong meeting facilitation tools and techniques, along with a keen eye for analysis,” Harris YMCA Vice President Charmaine Gudgeon said. “Their ability to help us organize and focus, as well as their level of professionalism, really takes these meetings from good to outstanding.”

Just as they had the previous three Octobers, Exervio consultants worked with Harris YMCA leadership to plan and build the retreat’s theme, messages, agenda, and overall structure. While last year’s retreat focused on execution at the committee level, this year used the theme, “Recipe for Success” and centered on creating long-term strategies that can be pursued through 2015. This directly supports the national YMCA’s recently announced marketing effort around the key initiatives of Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.

As facilitators, Exervio led three breakout groups in activities designed to help participants better understand their current competitive environment and then use that information to create actionable strategies within the new marketing framework. The retreat closed with short presentations from each group on their analysis and recommendations.

“The relationship the Harris Y has with Exervio has become a true partnership in every sense of the word,” Gudgeon added. “Our Board Members and staff love working with their consultants, and we look forward to their continued involvement in our strategic planning process.”
