Optimize IT Consulting's Amy Walker Named President of NCHE

Optimize IT Consulting is pleased to announce that its CEO, Ms. Amy Walker, was elected President of the National Capital of Healthcare Executives (NCHE) in March. NCHE is an independent chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives whose mission is to promote leadership and excellence among its members.

Ms. Walker is a fellow of the ACHE, and has been a member of the NCHE since 2004. She first began her career in healthcare nearly 25 years ago as a critical care nurse.

She quickly advanced to nurse manager and maintained this role while pursuing graduate studies at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. Ms. Walker was, in fact, one of the early graduates from the Masters in Nursing Informatics program which allowed her to combine her nursing expertise with her passion for improving and streamlining care process through the effective use of technology.

In 2005, building upon her expertise obtained from strategic healthcare roles and after serving as a consultant for Birch & Davis Associates where she specialized in project management for the Department of Defense (DoD) Health Affairs, Ms. Walker founded Optimize IT Consulting. A strategic advisement firm, Optimize IT Consulting allows Ms. Walker to focus on helping healthcare providers and healthcare IT vendors alike connect the dots between what is needed, what is wanted and how it all can or should work together.

"It is a privilege to serve as President of NCHE," says Walker, who is already hard at work promoting membership and continued professional development. "I look forward to expanding our outreach, mentoring others and working as a catalyst to ensure that we deliver. All of the NCHE board members share in this vision and willingly accept the challenge of obtaining the highest caliber speakers possible and promoting events that are well thought out."

"Amy Walker was a unanimous selection by the National Capital Healthcare Executives (NCHE) Nominating Committee to serve as the 2010 President," says Rick Christiansen, FACHE. "She was active in the Orlando Chapter and served on the Marketing and Communications Committee of NCHE, while making significant contributions. She also served as the Co-Chair and established the NCHE Women's Executive Breakfast Series and the NCHE Women's Executive LinkedIn site. Amy is energetic, a consummate 'team player,' and a superb role model for young women healthcare executives."
Ms. Walker is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and an ANCC Nurse Executive, Advanced - Board-certified. She is currently engaged in healthcare IT realignment projects for providers in the greater D.C. area.
