Gail Hinte is the new President of the North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance, Inc. (NCHICA). She was elected by the NCHICA Board of Directors at their Annual Meeting on September 23, 2009.
Hinte joined the NCHICA Board of Directors in 2005, and served as Treasurer of the organization in 2005 and 2006. Her goals for the coming year are to promote health information exchange across the State, encourage member involvement in health information technology (IT) initiatives, and increase the membership of the organization. “Over the past 15 years, NCHICA has been a leader in advancing the use of IT to improve health and care in North Carolina,” said Hinte. “NCHICA and its members will have a lot to contribute in the coming year as the State submits proposals for the ARRA stimulus funding. This is an exciting time for everyone involved in health IT.”
Hinte is a Partner with HIMformatics in Raleigh, NC, a healthcare IT consulting firm with clients that include New Hanover Health Regional Medical Center, Novant Health, University Health System (Greenville) and Cincinnati Children’s. Prior to this she worked as a healthcare consultant with First Consulting Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Cisco Systems. She earned her BA in Political Science from Assumption College and her MPA in Health Administration from Suffolk University.
