IT services vendor Capgemini and Microsoft have formed an alliance to announce ERP+, a strategic, multimillion euro initiative that they expect will maximize the clients return on investment from their existing SAP installations.
Under the agreement, Capgemini will establish a Microsoft and SAP interoperability Center of Excellence, train 1,000 Capgemini architects on interoperability of the Microsoft and SAP environments, conduct customer workshops to demonstrate the value of integration, and establish an accessible SAP + Microsoft Interoperability environment. It will also develop a suite of Microsoft SharePoint and Windows Mobile platform based accelerators to help automate industry-specific scenarios.
Additionally, Capgemini and Microsoft will jointly invest in marketing, demand generation and asset development to meet the needs of joint customers.
As part of the deal, Capgemini has also announced new services that will enable the clients to improve productivity and reduce cost by leveraging the interoperability between their Microsoft and SAP investments. The partnership will also enable Capgemini to extend its ERP applications portfolio, enabling it to complement ERP services and enable broader access for more customer employees.
Olivier Picard, chief sales officer at Capgemini, said: "Many customers, especially those in large enterprises, have selected SAP to automate their structured processes and Microsoft to support their unstructured workloads. As a global strategic partner to both SAP and Microsoft, Capgemini is positioned to add client value through integration. The alliance addresses our customers' need for integration beyond Microsoft .NET and NetWeaver and enables seamless integration to drive role-based productivity and cost reduction."
Last month, Capgemini and Oracle formed a partnership to market and implement Oracle's Enterprise Taxation Management software for state, county, and municipal taxing and revenue management authorities in the US.
