IIPM Delhi Holds HR Consulting Symposium at PHDCCI

The Lakshmipath Singhania Auditorium at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi, was witness to a very interesting and lively affair on Tuesday, December 4th. The event in question was a panel discussion, which focused on the Human Resource (HR) Consulting Scenario in India, and pondered over the scope of this function in the current Indian context. This discussion was held by the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM), New Delhi, in association with The Human Factor, and the stationery partner 3M (the makers of Post It).

For the uninitiated, IIPM is one of the largest business schools in India at present, working through 9 campuses across 7 Indian cities, and a student base of over 7000. The Human Factor is an HR journal published by IIPM. The Human Factor has recently been reworking its content to suit the dynamic environment and needs of Indian industry professionals.

The panelists for the discussion included Mr. Arvind Pandit (Associate Director and Operations Manager for The Hay Group), Ms. Avantika Susan Nigam (Lead Consultant with Hewitt), Mr. Asoke K. Laha (President and MD of Interra Information Technolgies) and Mr. Mohinish Sinha (MD of iDiscoveri Enterprise). Mr. Indranil Das (Editor of The Human Factor, and Head – IIPM’s Executive Education Programmes) was the Moderator for the event, and he ensured that the panel dealt with all concerns faced by Indian clients with respect to HR Consulting today.

All panelists have had enriching and varied experiences in HR Consulting, and hence were able to provide different perspectives all throughout, keeping the energy maintained. The discussion flowed smoothly, and covered various other components, such as the need for customization of consulting services for the Indian market, the latest tools and methodology used by HR Consultants nowadays, and the major differences between HR Consulting and HR Outsourcing.
