Consulting Firm Fuentek Announces Karen Hiser as New Consultant

Laura A. Schoppe, president of Fuentek, LLC, has announced that Karen Hiser has joined the firm as a consultant. In this position, Hiser will interact with innovators in the software and information technology industries to evaluate their intellectual property portfolios and assess opportunities for commercialization. She will work with industry experts to identify current market trends and help clients market their technologies effectively and identify potential licensees.

Prior to joining Fuentek, Hiser served as the director of compliance services for Open Source Risk Management where she built a highly-specialized consulting business. At that firm, she gained a strong customer base of multinational corporations in the software and telecommunications industries, managed a corporate marketing program and launched the world’s first Open Source insurance policy. Hiser also served as president of Karen Rae, Inc., as well as vice president of professional services at SciQuest.

Hiser earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, with a minor in computer science, from Virginia Tech. She was a mentor for both the Council for Entrepreneurial Development’s FastTrac program and Peace College’s Women’s Leadership Studies program. A native of Columbia, Md., Hiser resides in Morrisville with her husband and daughter.
