CH2M HILL Named "Leader" in Climate Change Consulting

CH2M HILL, a global full-service engineering, procurement, construction, and operations firm, has been named one of the top leaders in climate change consulting in the United States, according to research from Verdantix, an independent research firm focused on climate change, carbon markets and business sustainability.

The Verdantix Green Quadrant research project was a ground-breaking analysis of the US climate change consulting market. It applied 56 evaluation criteria to assess 19 consulting and professional service firms. Firms were evaluated on their capabilities including proven climate change/sustainability expertise, market momentum, thought leadership, and ability to connect and resolve multiple issues. The study cited seven firms as leaders, but Verdantix indicated that CH2M HILL stood out even among these leaders because of the breadth and depth of its capabilities and proven track record.

"Over the past 60 years, CH2M HILL has developed our engineering and technological experience that allows us to bring sound, science-based solutions to our clients," said Lee McIntire, President and CEO, CH2M HILL. "We are pleased that the Verdantix study validates that we understand the carbon challenge -- from strategy development, to technical consulting and project implementation, to market opportunity assessment."

The Green Quadrant research project, based on dozens of interviews with practice leaders and clients, found that despite the economic downturn, demand for climate change consulting continues to grow at a robust pace.

"We understand that in today's world, a convergence of carbon, energy, and water issues are impacting a company's license to operate," said McIntire. "Companies are facing increasing pressures from regulators, stockholders, non-governmental organizations, and the general public on how carbon, energy, and water are being managed. We work with our clients to understand their goals and create efficient, effective actions to achieve desired results."

CH2M HILL provides services across all of these resource areas, carbon, energy and water. Our services include: climate change and sustainability strategy development; greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory management, climate change impact analysis; information management and business analysis solutions, carbon market support, integrated water resource/wastewater infrastructure; renewable energy systems (wind, solar, biomass); CO2 capture and storage; and CO2 compression and pipelines.
